Project:Urban Sport and Public Space
Authors:Dr Robyn Creagh, Dr Courtney Babb, Anthony Karro, Professor Marian Tye
This project arises from discussion between the Centre for Sport and Recreation Research and the Curtin Properties Place Activation team regarding opportunities to increase the number of staff, students and the wider community engaged in active recreation in the Curtin public realm.
For this study a collaborative research approach was adopted. The research team identified local urban sporting communities, groups and organisations to participate in a focus group workshop.
The data collection process was designed to reflect on the campus social, policy and physical environments. This document summarises the initial phase of a research project aimed at creating a prototype audit tool for urban sport and active recreation. This project is ongoing.
